Dopo due mesi di ricovero ospedaliero, lo scorso lunedì è morto il leggendario Guru (43 anni,frontman dei Gangstarr), dopo una lunga battaglia contro il cancro.
Il rapper ha provato a mantenere segreta la malattia, ma ha dovuto ammettere di avere problemi di salute in marzo quando è stato ricoverato per un attacco al cuore e altri problemi che allora non erano noti.

Durante il ricovero ospedaliero, Guru ha voluto lasciare un ricordo ai fans tramite una lettera , resa pubblica da Solar (suo partner musicale) su MTV:

“I, Guru, am writing this letter to my fans, friends and loved ones around the world. I have had a long battle with cancer and have succumbed to the disease. I have suffered with this illness for over a year. I have exhausted all medical options. I have a non-profit organization called Each One Counts dedicated to carrying on my charitable work on behalf of abused and disadvantaged children from around the world and also to educate and research a cure for this terrible disease that took my life. I write this with tears in my eyes, not of sorrow but of joy for what a wonderful life I have enjoyed and how many great people I have had the pleasure of meeting.

My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself. Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family, friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody’s feelings on the matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by Solar on behalf myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own.

I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ. As the sole founder of GangStarr, I am very proud of what GangStarr has meant to the music world and fans. I equally am proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on Jazzmatazz 4 for reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music quality has reached an all time low. Solar and I have toured in places that I have never been before with GangStarr or Jazzmatatazz and we gained a reputation for being the best on the planet at Hip-Hop/Jazz, as well as the biggest and most influential Hip-Hop/Jazz record with Jazzmatazz 4 of the decade to now. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time. And we as a team were not afraid to push the envelope. To me this is what true artists do! As men of honor we stood tall in the face of small mindedness, greed, and ignorance. As we fought for music and integrity at the cost of not earning millions and for this I will always be happy and proud, and would like to thank the million fans who have seen us perform over the years from all over the world. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time and is my most creative and experimental to date. I hope that our music will receive the attention it deserves as it is some of the best work I have done and represents some of the best years of my life.“

Ok..niente false illusioni, ma forse questa è la volta buona.
Sembra infatti che dopo più di 10 anni di attesa, entro la fine dell’anno uscirà il tanto atteso nuovo album di Dr.Dre “Detox”.
Fino a qualche tempo fa a detta di Dre l’album non sarebbe uscito prima del 2011, questo a causa dell’insoddisfazione del rapper/produttore che è tornato più volte in studio per registrare nuovamente delle tracce che non lo soddisfacevano.
Dre è comunque continuamente impegnato nel produrre e collaborare con svariati rapper, ma sembra che abbia finalmente registrato quasi tutte le canzoni; il primo singolo dell’album sarà “Under Pressure” (featuring Jay-Z) ed uscirà tra qualche settimana.

Converse in questi ultimi anni è ritornata alla ribalta dopo anni di quasi-silenzio… il nuovo successo è dovuto senza ombra di dubbio dal fatto che al mondo “fashion” ,così come in qualsiasi altro ambito, in questi anni è stata indiscutibilmente associato tutto cioè che è “vintage”.. ed ecco quindi la riscoperta di vestiti con fantasie di colori che ricordano gli anni ‘70-’80, e lo stesso per accessori di abbigliamento, borse, occhiali,cappellini, ecc..

Ma a farla da padrone sono state sicuramente le scarpe… ed ecco quindi le Converse, che dopo il successo del 2008 con le Padded Collar, ha deciso di ripetersi con il modello Collar II.
Le sneakers sono disponibili in tutta Europa da qualche giorno, ma solo da Foot Locker.
Il design originale è stato reinterpretato: il collarino imbottito,immediatamente riconoscibile,rimane invariato ma si arricchisce di un elemento ripiegabile che permette di creare due differenti look a seconda che sia indossato su o giù.
Come partner di eccezione per effettuare il lancio è stato scelto il duo Crookers, dj italiani noti per alcuni remix tra cui “Day n Nite” di Kid Kudi, che hanno realizzato una traccia apposita per le Converse che sarà scaricabile da chiunque acquisti un paio di sneakers…

The Game

Sembra esserci finalmente la data di uscita definitiva del nuovo lavoro di The Game; dopo svariati ritardi, è stato annunciato che l’album “The R.E.D.” uscirà il 15 giugno.
Se la data verrà rispettata, il rapper entrerà in competizione diretta con Drake per la conquista delle classifiche Billboard; Drake in fatti uscirà con il disco “Thank Me Later” proprio nella stessa settimana.
Nell’attesa di capire se entrambi gli artisti subiranno altri ritardi di uscita, le uniche informazioni riguardanti il nuovo album di Game sono le features: Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Justin TImberlake, Pharrell, Cool & Dre, RZA.

Sta facendo clamore il nuovo video di Erykah Badu, “Window Seat”, tanto da essere stato addirittura censurato.
La cantante ha deciso di girare il videoclip del singolo tratto dal nuovo album a Dallas, nello stesso punto in cui John F. Kennedy fu assassinato nel 1963 (Dealey Plaza).
Il video inizia con Erykah che parcheggia la macchina e poi si incammina iniziando spogliarsi un pò alla volta tra lo stupore e gli insulti della gente.
Pochi secondi dopo essere rimasta completamente nuda, si sente uno sparo ed Erikah cade a terra nello stesso punto in cui fu ucciso Kennedy.
Il video, che anticipa l’uscita del nuovo album “New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh” in uscita oggi, è stato girato in una sequenza unica e senza preparativi proprio perchè non “autorizzato”.
Ora per la cantante ci potrebbero essere ripercussioni legali..al momento non è stata ancora fatta nessuna denuncia formale, ma se qualcuno dei testimoni dello spogliarello dovesse sporgere denuncia, Erykah potrebbe essere incriminata (per oltraggio al pudore) ad un anno di prigione più qualche migliaio di dollari di multa.

D’Angelo è nuovamente nei guai… il cantante è stato arrestato lo scorso sabato mattina a New York per aver fatto proposte sessuali ad una poliziotta in borghese.
Michael Archer, vero nome di D’Angelo, si trovava a bordo della sua Range Rover alle 2.30 di mattina quando pensò bene di addescare una donna offrendole 40 dollari per un rapporto sessuale orale, convinto di aver a che fare con una prostituta… quello che non sapeva è che la donna era un’ufficiale in borghese.
In seguito ad una perquisizione nella sua auto inoltre sono stati trovati 12.000 dollari in contanti..reato che potrebbe costargli caro.
L’ultimo lavoro discografico di D’Angelo risale al 2000 (Voodoo), ma attualmente il cantante sta lavorando al nuovo album, il cui titolo potrebbe essere “James River”; non ci sono ancora novità riguardanti la possibile data di uscita, anche a causa dei guai giudiziari che stanno facendo  continuamente ritardare il lavoro.
